Taking a break from steady work on their second record, Down By Avalon return for the second year in a row to play La Leche League of Chapel Hill‘s Rock The Baby Festival Saturday, May 9th. The outdoor annual family fun festival offers activities for kids and adults of all ages. As Alan puts it, “Talk about a worthy cause!” More details to follow or check La Leche’s festival site for updates.

In case you hadn’t caught them live lately, the band recently welcomed Scott DeMattos to the fold. Scott adds some full-time electric guitar, but is a multi-instrumentalist veteran of many great triangle bands. 

 

Down By Avalon return to The Cave in Chapel Hill this Sunday, July 13th, with labelmates Dan Bryk and Chris Warren (who will also be making his Triangle debut in support of his forthcoming album Night For Day.)

Down By Avalon’s own self-titled debut disc is finally available from CDBaby and a variety of online stores (including iTunes, amazon.com, eMusic, Napster, Rhapsody, as well as ringtones and downloads directly to your phone from Bell, Sprint, T-Mobile, Rogers and Verizon…)

We had originally wanted to time this announcement for April 1st, but whatever, nevermind.

Up until this point the exclusive domain of solo singer-songwriters*, the first person construct Urban Myth Recording Collective is totally stoked to announce the addition of not one, but TWO new bands to our artist roster: Bull City and Down By Avalon.

Why TWO bands? Because they have plenty of awesome songs, and awesome songs are right there on our mission statement in between drink lots of coffee and no whites after boxing day.

Why now? Because they made awesome records and we would like to share them with you. I mean, you’re probably gonna end up sharing them on the internets, sooner or later.

Why not? Exactly. So here they are, our new babies:
